How to Find a Good Hairdresser

Woman sitting under a hair dryer while the stylist waitsHaving the right hairdresser can make a huge difference between being happy and confident and being mortified at your current style and cut. Most people have been in the position that a new hairdresser cuts their hair too short, styles it wrong and they end up wishing that they have never made a change. For senior citizens who are looking for a new hairdresser they are going to find that this can be accomplished in several ways.

Word of Mouth

Word of mouth is a great way to find a hairdresser that you are going to be happy with. Usually, when someone receives a glowing recommendation from a close friend or relative, they are going to be happy with the hairdresser that they are using. Listen to what compliments are being said about the hairdresser and if these compliments are on par with what you are looking for, you are going to find that it is worth your time to at least give this hairdresser a chance to prove if all the hype is worthy or not.

Social Media

Thanks to the world of social media, most hairdressers are posting pictures of hairstyles that they have done in the past to showcase their work. This is a great way to find someone in your area that may be giving hairstyles of what you would like, or simply doing work that you admire. The good news is that when a person is proud enough to put their work on social media, this usually means that this standard is what they aim for with all clients, thus you have nothing to worry about when utilizing this person as your personal hairdresser.

Ask Someone You See

If you are out and about and see a hairstyle that you love, simply ask the person who their hairdresser is. They are more than likely going to be happy to tell you and possibly give you the contact information for the person. Through doing this you are going to be sure that you are getting the person whose work you are admiring.

You are going to want to make sure that you do your homework before trying out a new hairdresser. You do not want to end up with a hairstyle that you hate being seen in and are just counting the days for when your hair is long enough to work with or when you can change the color, if you are getting color. The more research you do, the higher the chances of being able to eliminate some hairdressers that you definitely do not want to see.

If you do get a bad hairstyle, remember that this is not the end of the world. Your hair will grow and you can change it. Though it may seem awful, there is not one person out there who has not had a hairstyle that they despise. Chalk the experience up to knowledge that you can pass onto those who may in the same position as you.
